REDD+ Academy session for network of universities in Viet Nam

Following the success of collaboration of UN-REDD Phase II Programme with Viet Nam National University of Forestry (VNUF) on integration of Climate Change and REDD+ knowledge into training curricula using REDD+ Academy materials, from from 29 Nov until 4 December 2017, the University has officially adopted the REDD+ Academy and its training materials, adapting them into elective courses for students in two Master programmes.

Attending the event, there were Prof. Tran Van Chu (VNUF President), Assoc. Prof. Bui The Doi (VNUF Vice President), Mr. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy (Vice Director of REDD+ Programme in Vietnam), Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong (Expert of UNEP), Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Sam (Head of International Cooperation Dept.,VNUF) and 13 participants from 5 universities include: Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry (TUAF), Bac Giang University, Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry, Tay Nguyen University and Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry.

To facilitate collaboration and share experiences on how to integrate new knowledge into training curricula, a network of 6 universities has been initiated by VNUF. The first working session of the network hosted and facilitated by VNUF combine a REDD+ Academy session and a field visit to Lao Cai province.

During the working session, participants will have go through the REDD+ Academy topics as well as discuss and share experiences on integration of new knowledge into training curricula. Participants also have opportunities to discuss and learn from field experiences through the field visit.
